Those of you who follow my career will know that I visit schools, a lot of schools. To date, I've done presentations and conducted workshops at more than 70 middle and elementary schools in 6 states (from Maine to Kentucky), speaking to nearly sixty thousand 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
I do my best to make my presentations fun and engaging I discuss my books, my writing process, the great mystery of where ideas come from, and the prizes and pitfalls of chasing one's dreams. There's also a lively Q&A. I've addressed groups of students as small as 30 and as large as 600. I also offer very hands-on writing workshops for up to 40 kids at a time. At these, students not only get tips on writing, but learn how to "put themselves out there" by reading their work aloud. These are always fun!
But don't take my word for it!
Engaging. Humorous. Relatable. These are some of the words I would use to describe Ty Drago’s recent visit to our middle school. He not only generated excitement for his books, but also delivered an inspiring message: he encouraged the children to focus on a goal, work diligently, and persevere to achieve their dreams. I highly recommend Ty Drago to visit your school. You’re in for a treat!

Ty Drago put on a great show for our middle school students. He was extremely personable, flexible, and exciting. Ty found new ways to engage each group of kids throughout his discussions about zombies and the joys of reading and writing. Our teenagers left school that day with a new-found appreciation of the creative process. Reading doesn't have to be a chore. Ty will remind you of that very simple fact of life. – Stephen Fitzgerald, Librarian, Matthew Henson Middle School, Indian Head, MD
With my highest praise, I recommend Ty Drago for a school author visit. Ty visited our upper elementary school for a day in November, and he was outstanding! His presentation was very student-oriented, informative, interesting, funny, and well received by our 5th and 6th graders. We structured a very busy day for Ty, and he was enthusiastic and willing to accommodate our needs. In addition to giving presentations to the student body, and autographing books, Ty had lunch with our book club and answered their questions. Please feel free to contact me regarding any questions about Ty’s school visit.

Ty spoke to our 6th-8th grade population and captivated them with his humor, book trailers, and way with words. He offered to stay for multiple events throughout the day, which was more than appreciated. Many of our students now have a new interest in reading...thanks to Ty's visit! The Undertaker Series is overtaking our school, and we couldn't be happier!

"Ty Drago brought a breath of fresh air and a ray of sunshine to our school after the massive devastation we experienced from Hurricane Sandy. His presentation held our students' attention from beginning to end. He spoke about his really cool books (what kid doesn't like zombies?) and the writing process, and the "passion" required to become a successful author. The Ventnor Middle School is passionate about Ty Drago!"
